After WW2 it was time for America to get back to work and General Motors stepped up and launched an all-new pickup to get that work done. First available in June of 1947 the new truck was dubbed Advanced-Design with the GMC counterpart being named the GMC New Design. The new truck was larger, stronger with more style. It was also the first generation of GM truck to offer an “in-dash” radio! They must have done something right because it went on to be the number 1 selling truck from 1947 – 1955.
