The 3rd generation C/K series, known as the “Squarebody,” debuted in 1973, marking a shift from the previous 67-72 style. Despite GM calling it the "Rounded Line," its boxy design, especially with square grills and headlights, became iconic. In 1980, a redesign introduced a bolder grill, rectangular headlights, and the first Chevy pickup with a windshield-integrated antenna to reduce wind noise. While the factory stereo, even with FM radio, was lackluster, 1980 also saw the first cassette player option.
