In 1955 the cold war was starting to heat up, Rock Around the Clock was at the top of the charts and Disneyland opened up in Anaheim, CA. The Chevrolet Advanced Design was now 8 years old and although, officially, there was a still a 1955 model Advanced-Design, GM was poised to release a groundbreaking new truck. In March of 1955, the Task Force was launched by Chevrolet also known as the Blue Chip for the GMC brand. It was an all-new design with elements adopted from the Chevy cars of the time such as the egg-crate grill and the addition of hood spears in 1957. In 1958, the Chevrolet and GMC trucks were renamed Apache and given a second set of headlights. The Task Force continued until the C-series with launched in 1960.
